What we collect, and what we never do.
Plain answers about this website, our forms, and the texts and calls our programs send.

The short version
We collect as little as we can, we never sell it, and we never use it to watch or judge anyone. This page covers this website and the text messages and calls our programs send. Programs that hold more sensitive information, like the platform agencies log in to, have their own agreements and rules, and those come first where they apply.
What this website collects
- What you type into a form. When you use the contact form, sign up for The Roots Report, enroll in a program or post a community need, we receive what you entered, usually your name, email, phone number if you give it, and your message. It is sent to our team by email through our email provider, Resend, so a person can answer it.
- Some of it is saved. Newsletter signups and community needs posts are stored in our database so we can send the newsletter and show the posts. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter with one click.
- No tracking. This site does not use advertising or analytics trackers. Our fonts load from Google Fonts, so Google sees a basic request from your browser when a page loads.
- Standard server logs. Our host, Vercel, keeps short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses and errors, to keep the site running and secure.
Text messages and calls
Some GrowthWorks programs send text messages and automated calls. We only text or call you if you agreed to it.
- Who gets them. Staff and peer supporters who agreed to receive work alerts when they joined, and people staying at a GrowthWorks house who checked the box to get their door code by text.
- What they say. Short practical messages: a house alert asking a staff member to check in, a request to approve a door code, or your door code for tonight. Our messages never include health information, never name a program or service, and never say anything about anyone's situation.
- How often. It varies. Most people get only a few messages, and only when something needs doing.
- Cost. Message and data rates from your phone carrier may apply.
- Stopping. Reply STOP at any time and we will stop texting that number. How people sign up is described on our House text alerts page. Reply HELP for help, or contact us below.
- We never share your phone number or your agreement to receive texts with anyone for their marketing. We use a texting provider, Twilio, only to deliver our messages.
If you are in crisis, call or text 988. Do not rely on our text line for emergencies. In immediate danger, call 911.
What we never do
- We never sell or rent personal information.
- We never use what you share to score, rank or predict anything about you.
- We never use cameras or recordings to identify or track people. Our commitments are on our Tech for People page.
Who sees it, and how long we keep it
Only GrowthWorks staff who need it to answer you or run the program. Form emails are kept as long as needed to help you and then deleted on request. Text records keep only what is needed to show a message was sent and whether you opted in or out.
Your choices
You can ask what we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@growthworkscollective.org or call (740) 683-9339. A real person answers.
Changes
If we change this page, we update the date at the top. If a change affects text messages you agreed to, we will tell you before it takes effect.
